Dancehall artiste Popcaan has indicated that Unruly Fest is a go, as he shared that several artists have been booked for the event.

On Monday, the artiste revealed that the festival will take place on December 22 at Roselle, Morant Bay in St. Thomas and will feature Popcaan and ‘friends’ Najeeriii, Skillibeng, Fivio Foreign, I-Wayne, and others. The festival is held to raise funds that the artiste’s foundation uses for its annual Christmas and back-to-school treat.

“Good morning world!! Get your tickets for @unrulyfest Link in Bio, #Movie St.Thomas, Jamaica,” the artiste told his followers on Instagram.

Entry into the event starts with general tickets $4,000 and VIPs $8,000.

Unruly Fest returns for the first time since 2019 after a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. Popcaan previously revealed that the funds from this event will help to provide key necessities for people in the economically depressed and impoverished parish of St. Thomas. According to the artist, his show will significantly impact the local economy giving local business owners a much needed boost.

The Social Development Commission named St. Thomas as the poorest parish in Jamaica a few years back. Popcaan has also shared myriad times his motivation for assisting the community, as the Census revealed that 50% of the population in the parish are youths, and unemployment and lack of opportunities are among the major social problems they face.

Unruly Festival, although just one event, will generate income for the local economy as vendors and other persons will be allowed to make money from patrons attending the event.

In the meantime, Popcaan’s followers welcomed the news of the festival.

“Dat is it,” Queen Ifrica sounded off in the comments supported by ZJ Sparks and others. Protoje wrote, “In looooooiiifeeee.”

Damagemusiq added, “Add Tommy Lee bad bro,” while Jesse Royal said, “Teaaachhhh Dem!!!”

One fan also noted, “This just goes to show how talented @officialiwayne is. He can be added as a headline to any dancehall and roots reggae music concert. He is a bridge for the generation gap.”

Popcaan previously hinted that an international act would be on this year’s lineup of the festival. Poppy and Fivio Foreign recently collaborated on a single with Vybz Kartel. The track “Tequila Shots” has since surpassed half a million views on YouTube. Fivio flew to Jamaica over the summer to shoot the video with the Unruly Boss in Kingston, with Starr Dawkins making a cameo.
